Why take this sexual harassment prevention training?
This course is designed to train professionals licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) who are subject to a sexual harassment prevention training requirement to renew or reinstate their professional license in the calendar year this training is completed. What is the sexual harassment prevention training requirement for Illinois licensed professionals?
According to Public Act 100-0762, also known as House Bill 4953, or “McAuliffe/Bush,” any licensed professional working in a profession that has continuing education (CE) requirements must include at least one hour of sexual harassment prevention training to renew or reinstate their professional license. In renewal reminder emails, the IDFPR is calling this the “Continuing Education (CE) 1-hr Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.” More info on the requirement is linked here.
How is this sexual harassment prevention course different from the Illinois state minimum training?
The Illinois state minimum sexual harassment prevention training requirement only outlines what the course content must contain. For professionals, the course must be offered by an accredited Continuing Education provider, called a Sponsor, with a sponsor license in active (current) status on the date the training is delivered. Courses intended to meet one requirement very well might not meet the requirements of the other, and vice versa. This course meets both requirements, and confers 1 hour IDFPR Continuing Education CE for professionals licensed in the DPR division.
Is this SHPT course offered by an IDFPR accredited CE provider?
This course is offered by Cogent Investments Inc. dba Illinois Required Training Solutions. We are licensed to provide IDFPR required CE sexual harassment prevention training to Illinois professionals in fulfillment of the one hour sexual harassment CE IDFPR license requirement. Our Illinois DPR Continuing Education Sponsor License # is 197.000316 and can be confirmed as being in the active (current) status on the IDFPR’s license lookup site, linked here. This license number will be printed on one of the two certificates of completion successful course trainees will earn immediately upon completion of the course.

With which state requirements does this harassment prevention training comply?
As mentioned above, in addition to the CE SHPT requirement, this course meets and exceeds the sexual harassment prevention training requirement of Illinois Senate Bill 75 for non-bar/restaurant/coffee shop workers. SB-75 is the law that requires every employee in Illinois to receive sexual harassment prevention training every year.

How long does this sexual harassment prevention training take to complete?
This course requires a minimum of one hour (60 minutes) of time spent with the course content. It does NOT have to be completed all in one sitting. Some people take longer depending on their preferred learning speed. The course has no maximum time limit to complete. ( Your region may have compliance training deadlines, but we don’t enforce these – we’d rather train people a little late rather than never! )
Are there sexual harassment prevention training requirements with which this course product does NOT comply?
- This course does not comply with the statutory sexual harassment prevention training requirements of Chicago City Council Ordinance 2022-665. This course’s content covers some City of Chicago laws, regulations, and resources, but may not contain other required elements and is not offered as part of a course bundle with the Bystander Intervention Training required to comply with the annual SHPT training requirements of the Chicago Municipal Code for supervisory and/or non-supervisory workers. What can I expect from this sexual harassment prevention training experience?
You’ll do a lot of reading at your own pace, and a lot of clicking or tapping.
We’re required to make our courses interactive and individualized, so we present material in small chunks, but as fast as you want to see it. Don’t worry, you don’t have to complete the course all in one sitting. If you need a break or to take care of something, feel free to step away. While the system will time you out if you don’t click or tap on anything for about ten minutes, every click or tap is saving your place and your progress.
You’ll see a lot of cute pictures of animals.
We don’t serve up a lot of cringeworthy pictures of people doing creepy things to others. We’re willing to bet you already know what creepy is, so we spare you the visuals.
We won’t show you icky videos.
For the same reason we don’t show you ugly and possibly triggering pictures, we don’t use videos in this course or in any of our sexual harassment prevention training or related courses. Because the book is always better than the movie, we prefer to teach by positive example rather than making trainees squirm in discomfort. We know you’ll appreciate this.
The first few lessons teach you how to take the course.
We use the first few lessons to explain how to use the course controls, and there’s a sample quiz to teach you how to take a quiz. If you’ve taken one of our courses previously, this will all be familiar and you can skip through the intro part. You’ll be into the meat of the content quickly.
There are quizzes and a final exam.
But don’t worry, all our quizzes, including the final exam, are retest-until-pass. We don’t count how many times anyone retakes any quiz. And we always explain the quiz answers, including why the right answer is right and the other answer choices are wrong. So it’s easy to get 100% on our courses.
