What are the harassment prevention training requirements for workers within the City of Chicago?
According to Chicago City Council Ordinance 2022-665, Supervisors working within the city limits must receive 2 hours of compliant sexual harassment prevention training, and 1 hour of bystander intervention training, annually. How long is this sexual harassment prevention training “good for”?
This simple question has a complicated answer: twelve months, so long as it’s completed before the end of June.
Here’s the detail:
- Illinois Senate Bill 75 requires every employee in Illinois to receive sexual harassment prevention training every year. So this training is good for one year, usually interpreted as the calendar year the training was completed.
- Chicago implemented their requirements with a June 30th deadline, not at calendar year-end. This means that Chicago professionals should complete this course bundle in the first 6 months of the year to cover both compliance bases using one course training bundle.

This version of our course is delivered in the “ To Train Another / For Your Staff ” registration format, with unique hyperlinks delivered to the purchaser/administrator by email for distribution by them to individual workers/others. Both the purchaser/administrator and the trainee(s) must have unique (not shared) email addresses. One unit of training product trains one person. This version of the course is like the “4U / Train Yourself” course in all respects except the form of registration.

How long does this training take to complete?
This course bundle requires a minimum of two hours (120 minutes) of time spent with the course content. It does NOT have to be completed all in one sitting. Some people take longer depending on their preferred learning speed. The course has no maximum time limit to complete. Are there sexual harassment prevention training requirements with which this course product does NOT comply?
- This course is NOT suitable for renewal of a professional license with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Per a requirement known as Public Act 100-0762, House Bill 4953, or “McAuliffe/Bush”, if you intend to renew or reinstate a professional license with a CE requirement during the calendar year you take a sexual harassment prevention course, the course MUST be taken through our accredited CE provider credential in order to renew your license.
